Dr.Robert L.Melcher Dr.Robert L. Melcher Dr.Robert L. Melcher is Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Syntax -Brillian Corporation. He has extensive experience in technology management and research and development initiatives. He is responsible for defining the technological vision for LCoS? product development and for the strategic development of business opportunities in high definition HDTV and in near-to-eye micro-displays for Syntax-Brillian.   Prior to joining Syntax-Brillian and its predecessor companies, Dr. Melcher spent 29 years with IBM Research in a wide variety of basic research, technology and director-level management positions. In his most recent position at IBM, he led an international team to invent, develop and market large area projection displays based on LCoS? micro-display technology.   Dr. Melcher holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics from Southern Methodist University, and Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Solid State Physics from Washington University. He spent one year studying at the University of Cologne and two years as a Research Associate at Cornell University. A holder of 15 patents and author of over 100 technical publications, Mr. Melcher has served on the advisory and program committees of several international conferences and is a fellow of the American Physical Society.
